3 Dec 2013: Day 8: Yongpyong

Woke up early in the morning next day to go up to the mountain by gondola. You can purchase the tickets at the box office. The ride up itself was a highlight - about 20 mins of snow mountain, completed with amateur skiers and snowboarders cruising through the snow.

Revising on Winter Sonata... lol

PARADISE :D

It was unbelievably cold and windy.... but the view was really worth it!!!

came down to have a mini ride on the snow...

Drama filming!!

last glance at the mountains before we left..

Winter Wonderland 02.01.13 - Yongpyong [Day 7]

2 Jan 2013: Day 7 - YONGPYONG
Yongpyong Ski Resort

Highlight of the trip - SKIING! First time and definitely not the last :)

We booked the bus tickets online through a website, with the help of Mr Cho. However, seats are first-come-first-serve so be sure to get there early to get seats on the bus u want.

The bus pick up point was right outside Lotte at Jamsil. This was also the place my dad lost his gloves.. :(

Got up the bus and had to sit separately because seats were taken up already, which I don't really understand since we booked in advance. Anyway, go early if you want to be sure to get on the bus to Yongpyong. It was a 3hr bus ride so I took a nap on the way.

Woke up and drew this because I was bored LOL

Our room was booked through a travel agency because I couldn't get a room online. I don't know if this is common but the hotel was fully booked - I tried booking in Jun/Jul and they told me booking for winter only starts Oct/Nov.. Despite me tracking periodically, I still couldn't get a room at Yongpyong ski resort hotel. I was that desperate to book a room at the hotels further away but luckily Tammy managed to help me get a room through a travel agency in Singapore. It was a nice and neat apartment at the Greenpia Condominums, not too far from the skiing facilities.

Big enough! nice and clean with cooking facilities.

the prices for the gondola and rental etc.

the fireplace at the cafeteria

all ready!!

this is the place we rented our outfits from. just opposite the area where they rent out equipment.

We rented ski equipment and wanted to hire an instructor but the classes were full :( kind of stranded but we decided to go and learn it yourself. It didn't turn out that bad!! we really enjoyed it :) look, the folks loved it too!

Took a break and had a cuppa...

Went back to apartment and cook very simple instant noodle dinner.. Ah life is good this way~

came out for a night walk..

the Winter Sonata "museum"

the restaurant is closed. we went the next morning...

Decided to go for night skiing - not a wise choice for those who are afraid of the cold. Gondola wasn't working in the night so it's not that fun but it's still at experience skiing at night!! Sis and I were freezing FREEZING but we managed to get some pictures.

LOL we are like the only ones around!!!

oh right, our room view. you can pay 30,000 won for the view of the skiing area.
